There are two things I have passion for, Photography (with Leicas) and Auto Racing (Ferrari Grand Prix and sports cars). As a young boy I would look for hours at copies of my Dad's Road and Track magazines. There would be race reports from the Grand Prix events in Europe Illustrated with wonderful photographs by great shooters like Louis Klemantaski, Bernard Cahier, Jesse Alexander, Geoffrey Goddard, and Henry Manny. These men made wonderful images that made an indelible mark on me. This photography helped shape my vision in showing automobiles and racing as more than just things and events.
My first real camera was given to me by my father. It was a Leica IIIa with a collapsible Summicron and a 135mm f:4.5 Hektor. Included in the package were both a 50 and a 135 brightline finder. I shot my first event with this outfit in 1972 at Daytona 6 hour sports car races. Things were less complicated in those days because big business and mass marketing hadn't taken over motor sports. Even as a fan with a paddock pass you could get as close as the professionals and get some really good images taken.
Recently I decided to take my over thirty years of images and start to market the best ones in several categories of racing eras and event types. I have gone away from the printing of images in the darkroom to making digital images from my negatives.
This is a passion of mine and I hope in viewing my images you will see motor racing images from a new perspective.
